Milford Road railway bridge replacement complete

The essential works to replace Milford Road railway bridge in Merlins Bridge, Haverfordwest, were safely completed over the weekend. The A4076 Dredgeman Hill reopened this morning, ahead of schedule and railway services between Milford Haven and Whitland have returned to normal.

Over the weekend, Network Rail teams worked around the clock to demolish and remove the existing railway bridge deck – which carries the South Wales Main Line. Engineers then installed a new, steel structure which includes a concrete collision beam to provide extra resilience, as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan to improve the reliability of the railway in west Wales. Network Rail would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst they carried out these essential works.
